My grandfather lived in New York during this time and he told me he once had to eat his own car to survive. He should have popped round to Clara's for slap up pasta and peas, the poor sod.

Dear Clara is 91 years old, yet she is still doing well, she should be an inspiration to the young generation to eat and live healthy. This recipe looks very nice. I also prepare kind of a variation to this - with brown lentils. Boil the lentils first, add fried red onion with 1 stock of vegetable cube, garlic/ginger, some tomato puree, salt- let all this boil by adding pasta. When pasta is boiled, the meal is ready. It is very delicious-can be eaten with tomato salsa.

That sounds good! Here are a few other tips.
At home, I let my steak rest at room temp before grilling. I like to season before I put the steak on the grill. I don't move the steak around while it's grilling and only touch it when turning.

Thier moms always seemed to make the most delicious meals, even during hard times. I remembered some of those lessons and now we enjoy great meals whether we are in the chips or not. But dont let anyone tell you Italian food is cheap...the Sunday sauce those ladies made had 4 or 5 kinds of meats in it!

Oh. I thought this was going to be about great depression cooking, as in some fucking misery guts moping about making eggs, or a giant pizza topped with ice cream. To be honest a lot of what this woman ate back then was decent stuff. Pasta with peas? Yes please. Count me in, it beats a hula hoop sandwich. My grandfather lived in New York during this time and he told me he once had to eat his own car to survive. He should have popped round to Clara's for slap up pasta and peas, the poor sod.

I am really impressed. Dear Clara is 91 years old, yet she is still doing well, she should be an inspiration to the young generation to eat and live healthy. This recipe looks very nice. I also prepare kind of a variation to this - with brown lentils. Boil the lentils first, add fried red onion with 1 stock of vegetable cube, garlic/ginger, some tomato puree, salt- let all this boil by adding pasta. When pasta is boiled, the meal is ready. It is very delicious-can be eaten with tomato salsa.
